Honouring My
Sovereign Flame
There comes a point when belonging to yourself matters more than belonging everywhere else.
Coming home to myself.
Entering my Crone era feels like coming home to myself. For the first time in my life, I feel settled. I no longer feel the need to abandon myself in order to belong.
There is a stability that comes from lived experience. From surviving enough seasons to know who I am. From recognising what is mine to carry and what is not.
The world has not changed, but my relationship with it has.
An imprint older than memory.
There was a time when being visible could carry a cost.
During the European witch persecutions, women formed the majority of those accused. Qualities associated with female independence, unconventional knowledge, visibility, and authority could carry real social risk.
The Malleus Maleficarum, first printed in 1486–87, became one influential expression of the misogyny surrounding witchcraft prosecution. Its history is complex. What interests me here is the echo that can remain when autonomy was once dangerous.
This section is intentionally contextual rather than a complete history of European witch persecutions.
And still, something survived.
Beneath the old stories, something in me still burned.
Do not stand apart.
Do not trust yourself too much.
Seek approval.
Soften your voice.
Make yourself smaller.
When independence, visibility, and autonomy are punished, a seed can be planted: perhaps it is safer not to be fully who you are.
THREE FORCES.
THE UNION OF THREE FORCES.
Perhaps it was never gone.
Let your sovereign flame rise.
Trust what it illuminates.
Let it be seen.
